Shutterminder Privacy Policy.

Effective date: 2026-05-15

Mac app

Shutterminder is designed to work locally on your Mac. The app does not collect personal data, require an account, or use network access.

Camera use

After camera activity ends, Shutterminder may briefly open the selected camera and inspect a short burst of low-resolution frames in memory to estimate whether a physical privacy shutter is closed.

Camera frames are not saved to disk, transmitted, uploaded, used for advertising, or used for machine learning.

Local settings and logs

The app may store local settings and numeric camera metrics, such as brightness values, to support reminder behavior. It does not store images, thumbnails, video, or audio.

Microphone Guard

If Microphone Guard is enabled, Shutterminder uses macOS input controls to mute the default microphone when supported. It does not record audio, inspect audio samples, save audio, or transmit audio.

Website analytics

The Shutterminder website may use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to measure page views, download intent, and waitlist email clicks. This analytics setup is separate from the Mac app.
